Summary by Joe B.
i had a fairly hectic and windy, mostly cloudy, flying day on Thursday at Muncie. All the events were to be flown then, because a storm was likely to arrive on Friday 9/27. Twenty-six plots participated. I got a 2d place in P-30 (only 3 entries, AMA rules =no Kanones). I flew the Kiwi p-30 from BMJR. Strong winds from North made for one flight with a stable hover over the tents and two with a fast climb to the South and a long retrieve. I flew Bad Axe and Anna jr Embryos. Bad Axe was new and needed more down thrust to take advantage of full winds. Anna jr flew like an old standby; went high and long. Hard to see after about 60 sec. Most of the Embryo pilots flew in the NBM Embryo class, with only 2 pilots in the class that allowed Blue Max holders to compete. In the OT Cabin event, I flew Sparky, and it took off well enough from table if I read wind direction right. It got good altitude and clean if short flights. I didn’t use full winds.
Another Bong Eagle, Harrison K., was there and got 2d place in NBM Embryo and 3d in Dime Scale + maybe a couple more. Because of rain, the Awards Ceremony was held on Friday in the AMA HQ board Room. Got to see where AMA dues go. Pretty nice.
