On Monday, July 20, Mike Kirda of the Eagles took 2d place in Andrade Rubber with a total time of 505 seconds. The rules proposed by Paul Andrade in 2009, pit rubber powered aircraft limited to 200 sq inch wings and motor weight of 20 grams against each other. Maxes are progressive, similar to Mulvihill. John Lorbiecki flew in the Golden Age ½ A competition. No Bong Eagles competed in Moffett
On Tuesday, July 21, Mike K. competed in Mulvihill getting 8th place with 376 seconds total time. Don DeLoach of the Magnificent Mountain Men of Colorado took the trophy with 840 seconds. A glider expert from Elgin, IL, Kurt Krempetz, who often flies with the Eagles, took first place in Old time catapult glider, with a total time of 238 Seconds. John Lorbiecki flew in Jetex, taking 4th with 106 seconds.
On Wednesday, July 22, Kurt Krempetz won the HH Catapult Glider event with a total time of 360 seconds, for his second win. John Lorbiecki took 3d place (518 sec) in the F1J event, the FAI version of 1/2A power ( 1cc / 0.061 cu. in. motors). He placed 15th in E-36 (105 seconds).
On Thursday, July 23, Mike Kirda placed 5th in Old Time Rubber Stick with a time of 353 seconds. He did not fly in the Dawn Unlimited competition, which was won by Josh Finn with a time of 432 seconds. John and Patti Lorbiecki both flew in the NFFS Hi-Start Glider contest. John took 2d Place (274 seconds) and Patti was 5th (94 sec).- Kurt Krempetz placed 8th in Hand Launched Glider (146 sec). The winner, Stan Buddenbohm, had a total time of 588 seconds.
On Friday, July 24, Mike Kirda flew in the hotly contested P-30 rubber event. He placed 10th among the 20 Fliers with a time of 326 seconds. John Lorbiecki had better flights in the FAI version of E-36 electric free flight, F1S, with a total time of 540 seconds ( 3 maxes of 180 seconds each ?), but placed 8th.
Eventually, photos of the free flight competition should appear on the AMA Flickr album of the Nats.
